The Download Festival 2024 is back with a lineup that’s turning heads – and not always in a good way. With over 80 bands on the bill, including headliners Queens of the Stone Age, Fall Out Boy, and Avenged Sevenfold, next year’s festival is already causing a stir on the socials. Here’s why…

- Queens of the Stone Age: This desert rock band has made a name for itself with a heavy, riff-centric sound. Their debut as Download headliners acknowledges their influence on modern rock.
- Fall Out Boy: From hardcore punk to mainstream fame, Fall Out Boy is a chart-topping band and isn’t something I’d usually expect to see at Download. But what do I know! I’m just a old, grumpy man.
- Avenged Sevenfold: Returning for the third time as headliners, Avenged Sevenfold is a familiar name at Download, known for their intricate guitar work and epic performances.

ELECTRIKJAM’s Take On The Line Up?
It’s not the best line-up we’ve ever seen. But I’d go just to see Pantera again. And Queens are always good value. The headliners, for the most part, however, suck – sorry, Fall Out Boy is NOT headline material at DOWNLOAD.
Dig a little deeper into the line-up, though, and there are plenty of decent bands playing over the course of the festival. You got Machine Head, All Them Witches, Dying Fetus, Fear Factory, Polyphia, The Black Dahlia Murder, Underside, and, well… that’s about it.
Bottom line? Think we’ll be giving DOWNLOAD 2024 a wide birth.

The festival’s theme, ‘reborn and recharged,’ reflects a commitment to change while honoring rock’s heritage. Fresh headliners and partnerships signal a new era for Download Festival.
Reading between the lines, it seems to just be a codeword for adding far too many pop punk bands to the roster.
