Solar Guitars Drops GC2.6 KILLERTONE – It's Bloody EPIC...

Solar Guitars has just unveiled its third Jason Frankhouser signature, the GC2.6 KILLERTONE, and it is a proper little stunner with a nice price tag to match

Solar Guitars has announced the release of the GC2.6 Killertone Jason Frankhouser signature model. This marks the third collaboration between the brand and the renowned Texan guitarist, aiming to deliver premium tones at an accessible price point.

I hadn’t heard anything about this prior to its launch, so when it dropped I was immediately interested. I love what Ola is doing with Solar and this new model is a barn-stormer for anyone that’s after a metal-focussed chugging machine for less than $1000

From the finish to the pickups to the headstock, this guitar takes no prisoners. But that’s to be expected. Go back to 2020 and look at Frankhouser’s Black Winter model. This new GC2.6 Killertone has the same vibe: it’s mean, it’s lean, and it is built for tearing holes in crowds

The GC2.6 Killertone boasts a striking Silver Burst finish on a modern Singlecut body, immediately catching the eye with its luxurious aesthetics. Frankhouser, known by his stage name Killertone, emphasized the model’s affordability without compromising on sound quality.

“This is a budget-friendly model – I really wanted to have something that more people could grab, but it’s not very budget in tone. It sounds KILLER,” he stated.

It’s Packin’ A Thin-C Profile Neck, A 24.75-inch Scale Rosewood Fretboard & A Signature Inlay On The 12th Fret

Built with attention to detail, the guitar features a mahogany body and a three-piece mahogany neck with a thin-C profile. The 24.75-inch scale rosewood fretboard houses 24 super jumbo frets and showcases Frankhouser’s signature inlay at the twelfth fret. A smooth sanded finish on the neck ensures comfortable playability.

At the heart of this axe lies the custom-designed Killerbucker bridge pickup, developed in close collaboration between Frankhouser and Solar.

“We voiced it very very killer, it’s tight and chuggy,” Frankhouser explained.

Complementing this is a Solar Modern alnico-5 pickup in the neck position. Both pickups feature individual volume controls with push/pull splitting capabilities, offering versatile tonal options.

Priced well under $1000, the GC2.6 Killertone Jason Frankhouser signature model represents insane value for money. It ain’t a budget guitar by any stretch but it runs rings around most other $800 to $1000 electric guitars.

If you’re the kinda guy or gal that likes a modern, hardtail guitar with tight, aggressive tones, and slick aesthetics, this could well be the axe you’ve been search for.
